Carry-On Luggage In A Plane in Air Canada

With different airlines having different carry-on luggage sizes and weighs to consider, packing can indeed be a daunting task while boarding flights to India from Toronto. Even though the airport officials constantly run announcements, stating what can be taken along and what can’t be; it’s always better to pack accordingly. Especially to avoid the last-minute hassle of transferring things from one bag to another!

Know the rules for carry-on luggage by giving this blog a read.

  • TSA 3-1-1 Liquids Rule

If you have always had this question of whether you can take liquids as a carry-on, we are here to rest the doubts once and for all.

According to TSA’s official page, you can carry a quart-sized bag of liquids (includes liquids, aerosols, gels, pastels, and crèmes). Each liquid container must be equal to or less than 3.4 ounces (100 ml). If you are carrying a powder-like substance, that must be kept under 12 ounces.

Known as the 3-1-1 rule, it is called so because you can carry-

•          3.4-ounce container

•          1 quart-sized Ziploc bag

•          1 bag per passenger

  •  Baby Food

In accordance with the TSA carry-on rules, baby formula, food, medications, and breast milk can be carried which need not be in Ziploc bag. They can even be more than three ounces. However, the airport officials need to be told about this during the security screening and they might be subject to additional screening.

  • General Food

If your food isn’t in a liquid state, you’re allowed to carry it along. However, you can’t carry ketchup, yogurt, oil, and jelly candy.

  • Make-Up

TSA’s 3-1-1 rule applies to cosmetics like moisturizers, liquid foundation, toothpaste, mouthwash, and nail paints/removers. The good thing is that most of these items already come travel-sized. About the lip-colours, blush, and other concrete items, there are absolutely no restrictions.

  • Batteries

Batteries can be carried in your carry-on luggage as long as they aren’t car batteries, wet batteries, or spillable batteries.

  • Self-Defence & Sharp Objects

Any kind of weapon is prohibited on a plane and that includes tasers and pepper spray. You can’t carry knives, cutters, or other sharp objects as well. However, you can carry scissors if they are shorter than 4 inches. Electric and disposable razors are also allowed.

  • Pets

While bigger pets go into the cargo, pets that can fit into the TSA-approved carrier can be safely put under your seat and hence can be carried as a part of your carry-on luggage.
