Delhi Airport Undergoes A Big Change In Operations

With festivals like Dussehra, Diwali, and Bhaidooj around the corner, booking flights from Canada to India and back will observe a surge. If you are somebody who’s going to jump on the ‘Flying to India’ bandwagon too, you’ve all the more reason to take note of the terminal changes at Delhi Airport that occurred on September 5, 2019 by the following airlines.

SpiceJet Terminal Change

SpiceJet has shifted its entire operations from Delhi Airport Terminal 2. While flight numbers SG 8000 to SG 8999 have shifted operations from T2 to T3, its other domestic flights continue to operate from Terminal 1. Chairman and Managing Director of Spicejet, Ajay Singh, notified that SpiceJet’s flight operations will now be restricted to Terminal 1 and Terminal 3 only.

 IndiGo Terminal Change

While IndiGo flight numbers 6E 5000 to 6E 5999 have shifted operations from Terminal 2 to Terminal 3 in Delhi Airport, flight numbers 6E 2000 to 6E 2999 will continue to operate from Terminal 2.

Shift of Operations From Terminal 2

Even though SpiceJet and IndiGo have partially shifted their operations from T2, GoAir continues to operate from T2 at Delhi Airport.

Compounded by the re-allocation of Jet Airways flights, an overflow in traffic was being observed at Terminal 2. In order to uplift passenger experience and decrease load at T2, Delhi Airport took this step.

Steps Taken To Make This Change A Success

To ensure passengers’ convenience isn’t at risk, bilingual directional and informative signage has been put up by the airport at all strategic locations in and around T1, T2, and T3. Shuttles at all terminals are available for passengers to use. The changes in flight movements will be updated via MATVs (in house television) at the terminals and Delhi Airport Metro.

Passengers landing in or taking off from Delhi Airport, one of the busiest International airports, must know about these changes to avoid any sort of hassle. After all, the last thing you would want is to ask your parents to receive you at T2 while boarding a flight from Canada to India only to end up landing at T1.
